Anyone who knows me knows I have a serious sweet tooth and I don’t deprive myself of anything. When I feel like treating myself I just try to keep it under control and avoid going overboard (but let’s be honest, who can stop at just one Malteaser?)

Luckily I’ve got some delicious recipes on hand that for when the cravings can’t be curbed but I don’t want a calorie blow out. Remember, a healthy relationship with food is key if you want to live a happy and healthy life that is sustainable and enjoyable. There are so many ways to tweak sweet treats to make them better for you and below are 8 of my favourite desserts that are less than 300 calories per serve:

Mini PB Cups.

These chocolate nut butter cups are just like the commercial peanut butter cups… only way better.

Molten PB & J Brownies.

This one is packed with fats, protein to help slow down the release of sweetener into your bloodstream so you don’t get blood sugar crashes. If you feel a sweet recipe like this might make you lapse, print the recipe out and keep it up your sleeve for a few months time.

Anti Inflammatory Hot Chocolates.

We’re slightly obsessed with turmeric and use it as much as possible, sprinkled on top roasted cauliflower, mashed through potatoes and stirred through scrambled eggs. So we’ve added it to a warm winter drink for an anti-inflammatory boost. Yum!

Sweet Potato Brownie.

We aim to have veggies at every meal and we even add them into desserts like in this Sweet Potato Brownie recipe. Another perk? It’s made in the slow cooker! Which makes these extra gooey and fudgy, just like a brownie should be.

Banana Bread Muggin.

This breakfast hack is the ultimate time saver. So, if you’ve slept through your alarm (and pressed snooze a few times more than usual), this two-minute banana bread in a mug is a tasty and super easy way to get back on track! Keep in mind that all microwaves are different! Keep and eye on it to make sure it doesn’t spill over and cook in increments if it is rising too much! If it is too liquidy, keep going in 30 second increments until cooked.

Choc Chickpea Biscuit.

Chickpeas in a biscuit? Yes, that’s right. Although a (traditionally) odd mix, these are a great healthy snack, chocolatey and chewy on the inside – and a great guilt free afternoon treat.

Cashew Cheesecake.

My brother Alex is not a vegan but he loves to create clean versions of traditional treats. When he first introduced this Cashew Cheesecake to me, I’ll admit – I definitely hesitated! But after trying it, I realised that vegan treats can be totally delicious. Just be mindful to keep this to once or twice a week though – as this one is still considered a treat.
